Confined Campaigns – Ep57

Confined Campaigns – Ep57

We're playing a confined campaign. Everyone erase your gear.

When the characters are kept in the same area (against their will or not) for an extended period of time, that is a confined campaign. Whether they are actually held captive, or merely living together in the same location, the opportunity for player character and non-player character development is very good.

We talk about scenarios that have this theme and some of the movies we like for inspiration.

  1. I just discovered your podcast a couple of weeks ago and enjoying it. I have played off and on for 30 years so your references to the old days strikes a familar cord. I am currently not playing and listening to your group helps with the withdraws. I just want to say thanks for doing the podcast. Keep up the good work!

  2. I love a good dungeon crawl. Killing monsters, stealing their loot… Good times. But ultimately, you gotta get out of the dungeon to spend it. You’ve got to have a base of operations – familiar territory to defend and store your loot. Wandering the world is an intriguing idea for a campaign, on foot, horseback or air speeder.

  3. Great discussion guys! I like the confined aspect, but more as a side-quest rather than a full blown campaign. I feel like inevitably the players are REALLY going to want to flap their wings, but keeping them cooped up for a while can be a really useful tool. I have a plan to run this sort of module in my campaign down the road and I hope it proves to be a real challenge.

Keep up the great work! Oh and DAS BOOT is a fucking classic!
