Powergaming with Deuce – Ep107

Beware the man on the left. He will ruin your game. His Wookiee companion, however can be trusted.
Beware the man on the left. He will ruin your game. His Wookiee companion, however, can be trusted.

One of our favorite people is Deuce (Eric’s brother-in-law Eric). The reason he is a favorite is that Deuce is a powergamer. We like to think of ourselves as powergamers (at times), but compared to Deuce we are hyper-immersive method actors.

We talk about some of Deuce’s best power-built characters and the games that promoted their creation.

    Powergaming is a playstyle,
I gotta agree with that. This is a game and sometimes people enjoy playing the mechanics more then the character. Does tend to creep up the curve in games if unchecked, as the vicious cycle of dm upgraded monsters demand further upgrades of players. All things considered, I think its fair to let most PCs have at least one specialty that lets them shine. Being Joe average can be great, but not always very heroic at least ‘on screen.’ Nobody wants to watch an action flick where even the heroes can’t get a single shot on target. An action comedy perhaps, but that is its own type of game.
