Peaking, Plateauing & Jumping the Shark – Ep158

Sometimes your characters have that defining moment in their career that makes you stop and ask “should I go on?” Do you cross that line and continue after that moment and risk ruining the character? We talk about the three things that can absolutely destroy a character in the eyes of the player, peaking, plateauing and jumping the shark.

  1. I also love ending on a high note, which is often rare. After months of playing a character deeply in need of retirement, I was delighted at the idea to setup an entire scene on top of a skyscraper that he had secretly set to blow. An…entire…Skyscraper. He got to go out, jumping with everything timed level by level to blow out all cinematic like as he fell dozens of stories. Ahh…what a way to close a negotiation.

Sadly… he survived (don’t ask). Obviously I can’t ever top that so he remains unplayed.
