Gamer-culture tropes, are they as cool as we want them to be?

Editor’s Note:
The reason that our intro was so screwed up is that Shannon moved to the other side of the table. She says it is so she can sit next to Mike who is running the game we play after recording, but we all know it was to get away from Jayson and Shawn.

    David Tennant overrated?
    Constantly over the top maybe!
Don’t recall anyone talking about Twilight well you did mention vampires after all!
Zombies? No reference to Shaun of the Dead, shame on you!
Ninja’s and no power ranger reference, well okay that would have been a bit too much!
Look forward to next weeks episode, you actually got Shannon to protest about something!
I think Matt Smith isn’t dating anyone at the moment!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, when Mark brought up David Tennant, he was being sarcastic. He loves Tennant.

Wow…Shannon doesn’t like bacon? I didn’t think that was humanly possible. Hell, even pigs like bacon!

Zombies *are* over rated, though lameness depends upon their depiction. And their modern depiction evolved by accident anyway.

And the night night job of a samuri might or might not have been to be a ninja. But ninjas have been overdone and over rated.

But a ninja zombie would be awesome! Except for Deadpool who is a lameoid.

I don’t think the ratio of anime which is good to bad is any different from Western Animation which is good to bad.

Someone needs to get Liefield to draw a foot that is also a gun.

And saying Dr. Who is lame and overrated are pure fighting words.

What is over rated? Sex. And creating podcast talkshows and/or an internet video rpg review show.

What did Kevin Bacon ever do to Shannon?

Sex is overrated? I’m not even sure where to begin with that…

Sex is overrated mostly to those new to it.
The hero’s journey -This from a rather respected forgotten realms novelist!
Call of Cthulhu- Yes, a personal favorite, but when you put comics illustrating the flaws of the system INSIDE THE MAIN BOOK you have to admit a problem.
AD&D- Love it but Thac0? Negative armor classes? Spells and Powers?
White Wolf Games- Grew up with them but I’ve also had a epic vampire botch and get nearly slain just trying to get into an unlocked fricking CAR. Great gamer moments yes, but anticlimactic.
Most ‘universal’ systems- Yes Gurps. Reason? TOO FRICKING COMPLICATED. The good ones try to simplify the system into abstracts, but most of the majors decided every stupid thing had to be perfectly measured. On the other hand…

    My personal bag of hatred:
LARP systems. I’m looking at you Mind’s Eye Theatre! Nothing feels more stupid then a bunch of sex starved uber-geek jackasses trying to spend ultra descriptive ‘traits’ to block my blade with their ‘fuckability’ or ‘moonwalkable thighs’ all while we attempt to maintain dramatic tension by playing rock paper stupid!

I’m not attacking LARP in itself, only the flawed systems I’ve experienced. I also hate the mind-numbing type your response forum systems. I was excited at the concept until I saw the reality: Everyone writing longwinded bullshit stories about angelboy666 trying to out-due devilgirl69 and judging the ‘winner’ by who makes the most people’s eyes pop out from reading their idiotic ‘actions.’

Might as well go IRC gaming. At least there are dice rollers, even if everyone just ends up sitting at the virtual bar measuring their imaginary attributes.

Yup, I know this episode aired quite a while ago, but I just started listening a couple of weeks ago and I’m still playing catch up. Anyhoo, thanx for mentioning bacon and peanut butter sandwiches. I was first exposed to B & PB about thirty years ago, and my first reaction was the same as most everyone else, Yuck! My girlfriend convinced me to try it and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. Nobody I’ve ever suggested it to since ever thought it sounded like a good idea to mix the two; they all think I’m weird.

It’s nice to hear that even though B & PB might be an obscure sammich, I’m not the only one who’s heard of it.
