Broken Arrow – Ep58

Hold ‘em or fold ‘em, that is the question.

Just like many groups of people that have spent any length of time together, we have developed our own jargon. One instance of this is the “Broken Arrow”.

Derived from the movie of the same name, it means a no-win situation that is so desperate there is virtually no recovering it. It can happen at any time and completely ruin a game, campaign or even a gaming group.

In this episode, we discuss some of our favorite and most tragic, Broken Arrow moments.

Confined Campaigns – Ep57

We're playing a confined campaign. Everyone erase your gear.

When the characters are kept in the same area (against their will or not) for an extended period of time, that is a confined campaign. Whether they are actually held captive, or merely living together in the same location, the opportunity for player character and non-player character development is very good.

We talk about scenarios that have this theme and some of the movies we like for inspiration.

Indie Games – Ep56

Pfft... Star Wars? Too mainstream. I prefer Aegis.

What is the first reaction you get from most gamers when the term indie game is mentioned, or worse indie gamers? The terms used are usually somewhere between elitist dicks and hipster douche bags.

Problem is, that is not always the case. It could just be a case of a community bringing down the thing that they love. Some independent games are quite good and with online publishing making it easy to cheaply produce material, the future is bright for those who shirk the mainstream yoke.

We take a look at some of the independent games that have been produced that intrigue us the most.
