If you have been gaming for a while, the concept of themed campaigns should not be a new one. Setting parameters for character creation and a focused direction for a campaign can be very rewarding.
In this episode we discuss the themes we have used and plan on using in the future.

Well i don’t know about themed characters but a Bollywood movie night is top of my action list!
Well, it’s too bad I wasn’t there to defend myself. Lovely how you pigeonhole me as unimaginative and incapable of doing things differently. I do not agree with this premise – at all. Valkaun was the last “barbarian” I played – 10-15 years ago? Rando, a halfling thief? Crey, a middle aged human rogue? Amahd – Baklunish swordsman? Cuahto – a savage ranger/pirate? Cowboy – physical adept gun slinger? Turnabout – a hormonal teenage girl with issues? I’ll grant you that I like my star wars scoundrel – sue me – I enjoy it, I don’t care for playing Jedi. I also don’t care for always playing the “smartest guy/wannabe leader – Moe” (Dan), the quiet chick (Mike), the thief (Shawn – which you casually dismissed immediately after you ridiculed me for it), the statted/nerfed/brooding/smoker (Mark), or the “complete bastard” (Eric). We’re all guilty of rehashing stuff – its human nature. You may believe your new pirate is uniquely badass, and unlike what you’ve done before – but you’re fooling yourself and no one else.
I’m disappointed that my friends think so little of me.
Rant over.
Sounds like we need to rehash this topic at some point.
Okay, I’ve calmed down a little bit since I heard this last night while working out after a shitty day at work. But I’m still a bit peeved. I think the only thing my/our characters have in common is that they’re played by me/us in the same setting. You mentioned different cultures in our current campaign and the variety that can be found in it. My PC is the only non-Flanessian (is that a word?) on the whole damn boat! I’ve played Oerdians, Suels, Rhenee, Bakluns, Flan, halfling, dwarven and elven characters. All of them culturally different from one another, with different habits, customs and quirks. I tend to play Good characters and the rare Neutral now and then – Evil? Maybe once or twice – it just doesn’t appeal to me. Saying that I play the same fighter with a named two handed sword or “how many times can you make a Viking” in every campaign is simply incorrect.
I’d be happy to re-hash this. Shitheads.
Oh yeah, I have a username…
Sorry guys. Definitely an overraction on my part. Having a bad day isn’t an excuse for that.
