Unlikely Heroes – Ep63

Wait a minute… the guy on the left is the most prolific unlikely hero? SHOOSH!!

One of the most common used archetypes in storytelling is the hero of meager beginnings transcending and becoming a hero. It appeals to so many because in a way we think that it could have as easily been them in the story.

The problem is, that does not translate well into roleplaying games.

In this episode we discuss some examples of the unlikely hero and talk about how to try to make it work in your game.

Hey guys. I wanted to let you know that you’ve fallen prey to the common misconception that Jay Kay, the singer, is “Jamiroquai.” Jamiroquai is the band, not the person, though it’s true their promotional material doesn’t do much to combat the misinformation.

By the way, I’ve recently discovered your show in search of bloggers/internet personalities covering my game of choice, Hackmaster, and I’m glad to hear you guys are eager to go back to it. The sooner the better, in my book, so get to playing! I’d love to hear some actual play and get your no doubt informed perspectives on the game’s class design and so forth.

Anyways, keep up the good work, friends!

The perfect genre for a group of unlikely heroes is survival horror. Pick up AFMBE and confront your group of Average Joes with a zombie breakout.
